Kit by: Nora Maloney

My kit is for an ethically-minded person with an eye for fashion and a desire for comfort. The three garments I have included come from three brands all of which are extremely dedicated to the constant search for more sustainable and ethical methods of design.

A Few New & Up-And-Coming Ethical Fashion Finds

APPAREL MADE WITH SUSTAINABLE TEXTILES, SOURCED RESPONSIBLY

Wide-Leg Pants, Made of 55% Hemp / 45% Organic Cotton (Cut & Sewn in NYC)
By: Study NY

A Conscious Alternative

In addition to the major style-points I would award these pants, they are also seriously sustainable. Cut and Sewn in New York’s garment district, they are made of 55% hemp and 45% organic cotton.

Chunky Wool Cardigan Made of 100% Extrafine Merino Wool (Spun in Italy)
By: Everlane

A Conscious Alternative

Two great things about Everlane: 1. You know exactly what you are paying for since they break down the cost for you and 2. They let you digitally explore each and every one of their factories so you know EXACTLY who is making your clothing. This oversized cardigan is made of 100% extrafine merino wool.

Shirt Dress, Made from Premium 100% Certified Fair Trade Organic Cotton + Italian-Made Recycled Hemp Buttons
By: kowtow

A Conscious Alternative

The cotton used to make this dress isn’t just organic… Kowtow uses organic, certified fair trade, GOTS approved dyed, combed cotton. And for those of you already confused by that, just know you can feel good about buying their amazing clothes.

Hello! I’m a Chicago born writer, editor and designer based out of New York City. Fashion, sustainability and travel are among my main areas of interest. I’m recently graduated from Parsons The New School for Design where I majored in Fashion Design and minored in Journalism and Design. In my senior year, I published FEW + FAR Magazine which is comprised of a collection of interviews with influential leaders in the area of sustainable and ethical fashion. The magazine also features my thesis collection of six entirely zero-waste designs. I hope responsible fashion will come to be the new norm in the industry.
