Books You Should Read If You Want To Learn Yoga & Meditation

Breathe. Stretch. Be Present.

“The Oxygen Advantage: The Simple, Scientifically Proven Breathing Techniques for a Healthier, Slimmer, Faster, and Fitter You”
By: Patrick McKeown

A Conscious Alternative

This book was formative in allowing me to understand how one can and should breathe when practicing yoga. Breathing is a foundational exercise in yoga – if you don’t have the technique down, it could very well hurt your progress in yoga. I also recommend carrying these practices outside the yoga studio and into your everyday life.

“Yoga: The 30 Greatest Yoga Poses For Beginners (Best Yoga Poses for Weight Loss, Stress Relief, Focus, Anxiety Relief, and Self Esteem)”
By: Mark Thomas

A Conscious Alternative

When beginning my journey into yoga, I found many books and websites that offered helpful information on how to pose and described the steps that had to be taken to reach a proper pose. But this book was and still is one of my favorites. It’s simple, clear and guides you through the steps.

“The Miracle of Mindfulness: An Introduction to the Practice of Meditation”
By: Thich Nhat Hanh

A Conscious Alternative

Thich Nhat Hanh is a Zen Buddhist monk. He has reach the level of Zen Master in the field of Buddhism and the practice of mindfulness. I recommend all his books. You can consider this work a guide to mindfulness and a training manual for how to be present in everything from walking to the store, to being with friends and family. Always be present.

“Yoga and the Pursuit of Happiness: A Guide to Finding Joy in Unexpected Places”
By: Sam Chase

A Conscious Alternative

This work combines a helpful review of the history of yoga, the various philosophies surrounding the lifestyle, and provides an understanding of how yoga and meditation benefit the body and mind on a physiological, psychological and neurological level. Much of Chase’s words echo that in order to cultivate happiness, one must breathe and be present; be in the “now”.

I’m a lover of yoga, meditation and the planet. Hopefully these books will help you fall in love with yoga and embrace its benefits.

Have a questionI’ll answer.
