Why I Like This

If you’re like me, you’re rather conscious about protecting your laptop and tablets. I went for a while without using a case…but then I learned the hard way that sometimes it’s better to be safe than sorry. To protect your tech, I recommend this case by Hairy & Hairy. In addition to having a sleek, minimalist design, it’s made with a durable eco felt: a sustainable material made out of recycled plastic bottles (PET) and plant waste.

Why I Like This

I tend not to carry paper money on me much anymore, now with so many digital mediums available…not to mention just paying with a credit or debit card. This card case by Herschel Supply Co. has a minimalist, simple design and is made to last, constructed with 100% polyester. I couldn’t find much on their company website with respect to sustainability, but I wanted to include this product simply because of how useful and well designed it is. It’s also great for organizing.

Why I Like This

All hail cork! Cork is awesome. That’s my opinion. However, saying cork is an incredibly useful and sustainable material is a fact. Cork is derived from the bark of the cork tree. In harvesting cork, you’re able to preserve the body of cork tree, allowing it to carry out its ecological function. It’s a relatively sustainable method of sourcing. Cork is also biodegradable and a great, durable & high quality alternative to leather (hence the term, ‘vegan leather’). There’s an abundance of cork trees and manufacturing in Portugal, which is where this artisan is based.

This clutch purse has compartments for cards, bills, IDs and more, and features a zip-up pouch on the back and a snap button for quick accessibility. If you’re wondering if it’s waterproof — yes, it is. It’s finished with a protective spray that makes it waterproof.

Why I Like This

This is another accessory by GrowFromNature. This is the male equivalent to the female wallet / clutch above. It’s made with the same, sustainable cork material, finishing spray, and crafted by artisans in Portugal. This wallet is lightweight, designed with a minimalist aesthetic and features multiple spaces for cards and bills.

Why I Like This

S’well is one of my favorite reusable water bottle companies — and there’s a lot that have popped up in recent years, due to the money-saving and sustainable nature of owning one. Another one of my favorites is Hydro Flask (if you’re not a fan of this S’well bottle, check out Hydro Flask, here). S’well bottles are made of BPA free stainless steel, and they’re triple-walled, so they don’t sweat. Personally, I’m a big fan of their design. It’s also important to note that S’well, as a company, has a significant give back program and has donated upwards of $200,000 to UNICEF.

Why I Like This

I don’t know about you, but in my experience, it’s been incredibly hard to find a modern, stylish and minimalist backpack / shoulder bag that’s not made of leather. There are a ton of beautiful leather backpacks out there, but not many non leather one’s…especially not one’s made of organic cotton!

I was very happy to find Pack Lite. They make backpacks out of ethically sourced, organic cotton. As a company, they’re committed to environmentally and socially responsible efforts, ranging from using recycled fabrics to rejecting unfair labor practices. Why I Like This

Perhaps you already own a FitBit, but if you don’t, I highly recommend getting one. This little wristband gadget does quite a bit, and is perfect for anyone who likes to keep track of their active lifestyle. I, however, couldn’t find any company-level data on their sustainability efforts. If anyone has found something, I’d love to know in the comments.

Why I Like This

For my last item in this kit, I wanted to hit home on the theme of everyday carry…and what do we all carry more than our precious phones. As an alternative to the wallet and card holder above (if you weren’t so into those), this is a super streamlined way of carrying what you need. This accessory doubles as an iPhone case and is designed to carry just your essentials. If you’re into being super efficient in terms of what you carry on your person, perhaps you’ll like this selection.
