We’ve made composting kits before on Agreeable & Co., but none are perhaps as complete and thorough as this one.
In this kit of composting essentials, we wanted to provide exactly that — some of the best selling and top reviewed composting essential needed to get started composting at home. You’ll find a few compost bins for different spaces in your kitchen, and a few eco friendly composting accessories like compostable trash bags and charcoal filters.
Also, just to give you a bit of background about composting — this is what you should know to get started composting at home:
1. You should only put organic matter in compost bins (e.g., food scraps, paper shreds, tea bags, coffee grounds, etc.)
2. To prevent odor and keep your compost bin from overflowing, replace you the lid on the filter when needed and empty the bin regularly.
3. When you empty your bin, place the contents in a compostable bag for pick up or to bring it to a local compost house; if you have a yard, you can also dump the contents into an outdoor compost bin with soil and mulch and integrate the organic content into your yard or garden after it’s been broken down.

Top Rated, Best Selling Envirocycle Composting Tumbler Compost Bin (Food Safe, BPA & Rust Free, USA Made)
By: Envirocycle
Why We Like This
This is a bit different from a regular, home compost bin. Specifically, you’ll notice that it’s larger and designed to be spun (hence ‘tumbler’). This bin holds both food scraps and fertilizer. So, when your home compost bin is filled with organic matter, you can empty the contents into this bin. The food scraps, paper shreds, etc. can then be integrated with the fertilizer via rotating the Envirocycle bin. After all is said and done, you can integrate the organic material into your lawn or garden.
If you’re seriously thinking about composting in your home, we recommend using this product.
Why We Like This
In our opinion, this is one of the best organic compost fertilizers on Amazon. It’s a 100% organic formula containing billions of beneficial microorganism archaea that aggressively decay organic material for fast turn over. We recommend using this fertilizer with the tumbler compost bin (directly above).
Why We Like This
These bags pair well with any home or counter top compost bin (don’t use it with larger, tumbler compost bins). Use it like a regular trash bag and place in your compost bin so you don’t have to clean the interior of the bin. We recommend these bags because the bags themselves are 100% compostable, made from a biodegradable material derived from corn starch.
Why We Like This
This nifty kitchen gadget complements the counter top compost bin. It’s easy to install, comes with charcoal filters to block bad odor, and can be easily removed and carried when full. We recommend using the compostable bags with this compost bin.
Why We Like This
This relatively new compost container takes a new approach to the design of the compost bin. It’s an Amazon Launch Pad startup product and helps to make composting more convenient. In essence, this 100% recycled corrugated box both serves as a reusable composting bin and a portable, disposable compost container. It’s also designed with a vacuum-like seal that keep moisture and odors isolated.
Why We Like This
The black pad you see in the photo is an activated-charcoal odor filter. They’re placed on the inside of the compost bin lid to neutralize odors. Some bins comes with them, some don’t. If you’re looking to get a bin like the one above, we recommend getting these. They’re also pretty affordable at $12.95 for a set of 3.
